We’re here for you.

Fisher-Gentry Eye Care was founded by Dr. Emily Fisher-Gentry in 2013.

  • Dr. Emily Fisher-Gentry grew up in Bourbonnais where she attended Maternity BVM grade school and Bishop McNamara Catholic High School. In 2005, after graduating from University of Notre Dame, she ventured west to pursue her optometry career at the University of California, Berkeley. While attending Berkeley, Dr. Emily served as Optometry Student Body President and completed an internship at the internationally renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.  Upon graduation, she did mission work with her father in Guatemala, Hospital de La Familia, providing eye care for those in need.

In 2012, Dr. Emily took on the title Captain Gentry as she joined the Illinois National Guard to conduct eye exams for flyers for the US Air Force.  She currently lives in Manteno with her husband, Matt, and four children, Lucas, Ryan, Ellie, and Ava.

We are a full service eye care practice, serving the greater Kankakee River Valley Communities of Manteno, Bourbonnais, Bradley, Peotone, Kankakee and Wilmington.

In 2010, after receiving her optometry degree, Dr. Emily returned to the area to practice with her father, local ophthalmologist, Dr. Marc Fisher, founder of Fisher-Swale Nicholson Eye Center, in Bourbonnais.

Having been mentored by the best in the area, this experience further prepared her to treat and manage ocular disease as well as co-manage surgical patients.

Dr. Emily and her team strive to make every patient experience one to be remembered. One of the many reasons they love their jobs is the opportunity they present to meet so many people and get to know them. They look forward to providing compassionate care for your family.

Additionally, Dr. Emily has a lifelong desire to learn so they can make good clinical decisions for their patients.
